This past weekend this little fella had a Grandparent Photo Session at Caswell Beach, North Carolina. His beautiful mom got both her parents and her in-laws to meet up for a special extended family session. And to my joy, the sunset cast a beautiful golden glow into our images as it sunk on the western horizon.
In any grandparent photo session let’s feature the grandchildren. In this beautiful session little Walker is the star of the show. He came handsomely dressed well for his photos in a light blue collared button down shirt, khakis, and great shoes! At this age he wasn’t quite sure what the gathering was for but with some happy grandparents standing behind the photographer we actually grabbed his attention to capture those beautiful eyes. His grandparents will be able to see themselves in the highlights of his eyes when they zoom into their high resolution digital download of the first image below. wink wink
So we captured some fun images of the grandchild with his mom. Bri did a great job smiling even when Walker wasn’t so sure about what he was doing at the beach!
Of course, you need to capture images of the grandchild or grandchildren with each grandparent. Start anywhere. One of Walker’s grandparents is Melissa. Melissa told me her grandkids call her “Sassy.” I knew Melissa way back when she was a teenager and her family went to church with my family down in Southport. Time flies, guys!
Father and daughter portraits make great keepsakes. More frequently we get lots of pictures with moms and grandmothers, but we don’t as often get dads and grandfathers in our portraits. When I get the privilege to capture these images I count them extra special. Grandpas should always get featured in photo sessions with their own children who can be present. Now this beautiful young mom has extra special portraits with just her and her own dad.
Would you agree that this mom passed down a beautiful smile to her daughter?
All you grandmas, grandpas, nanas, papas, nannies, or whatever else your grandkids call you should not pass over the idea of photo sessions with grandparents when your families gather. Walker can treasure this in his old age one day and talk about the family tree from this grandparent photo session!
Grandparent photos present a unique idea for gifts. On top of that the planning could be an enjoyable event to look forward to spending time together and reconnecting. Sometimes you only get together at family reunions, weddings, or similar events. If you have very rare moments together try to plan time to capture the portraits for your grandchildren they can treasure for a lifetime.
Grandparent photo sessions might offer a new idea for your summer vacations at the beach. Or maybe everyone already lives in town or near by. Then why not? If you are interested in a similar type of extended family photo session, please contact me.
